The Empowerment Circle (TEC) is a women-led, community-based organization in Liberia committed to advancing gender equality, social justice, and peace. We believe that when women and girls are empowered, entire communities thrive.

Founded to create opportunities for women and girls to lead change, TEC works to strengthen voices, build capacity, and promote economic independence through inclusive and sustainable initiatives.

Community Empowerment Strategies

Our community empowerment strategies are designed to build local capacity, promote inclusion, and support sustainable development. We prioritize community participation, ensuring that individuals are actively involved in identifying challenges, planning solutions, and implementing initiatives that affect their lives.

We Follow Best Practices

We focus on education and skills development by providing vocational training, digital literacy programs, and mentorship opportunities that equip community members—especially youth and women—with practical and marketable skills. These efforts enhance employability and encourage entrepreneurship.

Economic empowerment is strengthened through support for small businesses and cooperatives, access to financial literacy, and linkages to microfinance and livelihood opportunities. By improving income-generating capacity, communities become more resilient and self-reliant.

What we do?

TEC’s programs are designed to promote empowerment, peace, and prosperity for women and girls across Liberia:

Women’s Economic Empowerment

We provide skills training, agricultural support, and entrepreneurship opportunities to help women build sustainable livelihoods.

Peacebuilding & Leadership

We strengthen women’s participation in governance and peace processes, ensuring their voices shape decisions that affect their lives.

Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Prevention & Response

Through awareness campaigns, community dialogues, and survivor support, we work to end GBV and promote safer communities.

Education & Leadership Development

We equip girls and young women with knowledge, confidence, and leadership skills to realize their full potential.

Climate Action & Environmental Protection

We promote women’s engagement in sustainable agriculture and climate resilience initiatives.

Our Impact

Empowered rural women through rice and cassava farming cooperatives. Conducted GBV awareness campaigns and focus group discussions in target communities. Promoted women’s participation in peacebuilding and decision-making processes. Supported leadership training and livelihood programs for young women and girls.

Our Governance

TEC is guided by a Board of Directors providing strategic oversight, and managed by an Executive Director with a passionate team of staff and volunteers committed to community transformation.
